Late afternoon sky

0706 afternoon sky

Yesterday, the late afternoon was suffused with golden light, partly from the coming rain clouds. Looking west, the sky was glowing in this amazing way, almost boiling with colour. Looking south, grey sky and a rainbow. Looking east, the rain clouds. But this was something to see. Not that I didn't like the rainbow - and the rain's surely welcome, this June is apparently Sydney's wettest month since May 2003, which hints at why the dams are under 40% full and we have water restrictions.

But would you look at this sky? How could you not? As I took the photo, a lady passed me, and smiled, and commented on how beautiful it was.
