This was taken in the Blue Mountains, NSW, west of Sydney. It's hot weather - the evaporation from the eucalyptus stretching as far as you can see is creating that blue haze, while the greywhite sky of high cloud is blanketing the heat and making the day hotter still. The sharp shadows tell you of the sunshine's brilliance. This is the second day when the temperature's climbed to 40 degrees in the shade (Celsius - over 100 degrees in the old money).
