It felt quite French (or Melburnian, if you live near enough to the Queen Victoria Market) to decide dinner on the basis of what's on special, fresh, good and thus probably seasonal at the greengrocer's. Leeks 3 for $2, strawberries 3 punnets for $4. Yum. Potato and leek soup, followed by strawberries and cream. Both the leeks and the strawberries smell differently wonderful - they fought for supremacy in the car on the way home.

I hope you enjoyed your dinner. And how strange to realise that for you, spring's on the way. Here in Scotland, the late flowers are blooming, berries are on shrubs and trees and there's a faint feeling of autumn in the air in the mornings.
