I looked at this the other evening, and thought how little I know about it. I've no idea what the wires all do, why they're attached at different levels, or curled, or with a second wire. On the one hand, they're a tad untidy - but only because I'm ignorant. I look at it and assume that everything is in its right place, even if this pattern in the world is obscure to me. The street light is shining. The houses have electricity. The phones were working. It's an immensely ordinary part of the world, but it's beautiful - the light, the deep blue, the silhouetted black. And it's real, a part of the everyday world.
